The Body Heals When the Conditions Are Right

Updated: Jul 22
Terrain theory does not deny that pathogens exist.
It asks a deeper question:
Why does one body become a hospitable environment for illness, while another body is able to meet the same exposure and remain well?

This is the part we have lost in modern health conversations.
We have been trained to fear the invader, but not to examine the condition of the land.
The body has terrain.
The blood has terrain.
The gut has terrain.
The lymph has terrain.
The nervous system has terrain.
The mind and spirit have terrain.
When that terrain is nourished, mineralized, rested, regulated, clean, and connected to God and nature, the body is far more capable of doing what it was designed to do.
Cleanse.
Repair.
Defend.
Digest.
Eliminate.
Restore balance.
But when the terrain becomes polluted, overburdened, inflamed, stagnant, and dysregulated, the body starts to lose its capacity to keep up.
This is where so many people are living now.
Not because the body is broken.
Because the body is overwhelmed.
We are exposed every day to things the human body was never designed to process in this volume:
pesticides
herbicides
glyphosate
PFAS
plastics
heavy metals
mold
seed oils
artificial colors
artificial flavors
synthetic fragrances
pharmaceutical residues
contaminated water
EMFs
chronic stress
poor sleep
processed food
emotional trauma
spiritual disconnection
And then when symptoms appear, we are often told the problem is the germ, the diagnosis, the inflammation, the parasite, the rash, the infection, the autoimmune response, the anxiety, the fatigue.
But what if those are not the beginning of the story?
What if they are the body’s signal that the terrain has been compromised?
When I do assessments, I often find that people with a high toxic load do not need a complicated protocol right away.
They need to stop the incoming burden.
Remove the exposure.
Clean up the water.
Clean up the food.
Remove the seed oils.
Simplify the body care.
Reduce the chemicals in the home.
Support the nervous system.
Rest.
Hydrate.
Get minerals in.
Get sunlight.
Ground.
Create a space where the body feels safe enough to repair.
Sometimes something like activated charcoal may test as supportive to help bind and carry toxins out of the body. Sometimes herbs, fasting, sweating, minerals, or other support may be appropriate.
But very often, the first medicine is subtraction.
Stop exposing the body to what is making it work so hard.
The body is not lazy.
The body is not confused.
The body is not failing you.
The body is constantly trying to return to balance.
A polluted terrain creates the perfect environment for pathogens and parasites to thrive. A clean, nourished, regulated terrain gives the body what it needs to recognize, respond, clear, and restore.
This is why I do not only ask, “What do you have?”
I ask:
What is your body carrying?
What is your environment exposing you to?
What is your nervous system stuck in?
What is your food teaching your cells?
What is your water bringing in?
What is your home made of?
What is your spirit starving for?
Healing is not always about attacking something.
Sometimes healing begins when we stop poisoning the terrain.
Sometimes the protocol is not more.
It is less.
Less toxic load.
Less synthetic food.
Less chemical exposure.
Less nervous system chaos.
Less fear.
And more of what the body already knows how to use:
clean water
real food
sunlight
minerals
rest
prayer
fresh air
movement
nature
peace
The body heals itself when the conditions are right.
Our work is to create those conditions.
If this resonates and you want to go deeper, I invite you to read my book Less, which focuses on healing the nervous system by simplifying, reducing the toxic burden, and creating the conditions for the body to return to balance.
Less is a guide back to the wisdom of the body — through rest, nourishment, nature, nervous system regulation, and the sacred practice of removing what was never meant to be carried.
